Our home was built 5 years ago with Schlage levers throughout the home. When I decided to convert a standard lever to a privacy lever, I went cheap with this one, and I got what I paid for. Yeah, it works OK, but it just feels cheaper and operates less smoothly. It is difficult to describe, but it is like comparing the ride of a cheap car with the ride of a more expensive one. It is hard to put your finger on it, but it just feels different. For starters, my Schlage levers are quieter, but it is more than that. The Schlage levers fit tighter in the door, as well, and they operate like a finely tuned machine. This lever, on the other hand, just gets the job done. If that is what you want, then you will be fine with it. Personally, my standards had been raised by Schlage, and I was disappointed.
